Welcome to Our Guests
We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, thank you for worshipping with us today.
For our Visitors:We have anAttended Nursery in the Education Building for babies up to 2½ years old; and, if you’d like to stay with your child, an Unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium next to the Foyer.
We have Children’s Church for children ages 2½ through 5 years in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building. A slide will be flashed on the screen when it’s time for the children to be dismissed for that program. Toward the end of our service after the announcements, the children’s teachers will bring them back to you for the closing songs.

We were so saddened last Wednesday night to learn of the death of our dear Sibyl Gersbach. She passed away just while we were getting started with our Fellowship Meal. She was a charter member of Canyon Creek and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons Mark Hicks and David Hicks and daughters Patty Hicks and Debbie Hughes, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her Memorial Service was held here at the church Friday evening with James Hudgins officiating. Michael officiated at the burial in Bartlett on Saturday morning. Let’s remember to keep all her family in our prayers as they deal with this loss.

Our congratulations go to Mary Joyce and Roy Nelson who were married last week in Las Vegas with several of their friends along to witness the event! Dorris and Michael Fortson are hosting a Luncheon and Wedding Reception, a “Celebration of Love, Friendship, Laughter and Family,” to honor them next Sunday, May 17, after our morning worship service. The Fortson’s address is 3601 Las Cienega (maps are in the foyer) and please R.S.V.P. to them (or just leave a message) if you can come 254-773-3192.
Our Graduate Sunday Cookout honoring Hannah Beth Davis, our only high school graduate this year, will be on Sunday evening, May 24, at 5:30 pm at the Matthews’ home, 3005 Stratford, where you are welcome to swim and enjoy being outside! Please come and help us celebrate Hannah Beth’s upcoming graduation.
Don’t forget to bring your canned goods for our Food Pantry here at our building! We need non-perishable food items to “stock the shelves”. There is a white bin in the old cry room for you to put your items for the pantry. See Kerri Hensley for more information.
Our elder chairman for the month of May is Terry Rascoe. If you have any questions or would like to meet with the elders, please get in touch with Terry so he can put it on the agenda for their meetings. His e-mail address is: tgrascoe@hot.rr.com.

Camp of the Hills Needs: We have received some e-mails from Camp of the Hills about things they could use this summer at camp. These are things that you might have around your house that you don’t need anymore: odd teaspoons (they’re running low on eating spoons for the campers); plain metal keychain rings (for crafts); plain white or pastel (no print) pillowcases, new or used; nail polish and nail polish remover; wood glue; Mod Podge; swim vests; used large and extra large women’s shorts & t-shirts; and used tennis shoes. If you have any of these things, please bring them to the church and Cathy will collect them.

We now have a new Meal List posted through August 12, 2009. To stretch the schedule out a little more, we have added a Sandwich Night and two Salad Nights.
Our hint this week for ways we can be helpful and live for Jesus in 2009 is:
WHEN WE MAKE A MESS, WE CLEAN IT UP.
Let’s remember this one this week at home, at work and in our church family.
