Welcome to Our Guests

We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.

For our Visitors:  We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies up to 2½ years old, and, if you’d like to stay with your child, an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer

We have Children’s Church for children 2½ through 5 years in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building.  Before the song prior to communion, your children will be dismissed for that program and then brought back over after the message so they can participate in the closing songs.

We have taken pictures of Eric and Meghan Braeuer, Fern Lucas, Cody Wright, Roy Nelson, Trey Leech and Leonard and Inez Cobb recently, so we’ll have all of these new pages for your directory soon!

Our contribution for Kyla Young and Jim Huddleston who are going on spring break mission trips in March totaled $1604.00! That is just four dollars over what their combined need was! Thank you so much for your generous contributions! Their parents took them their checks this weekend when they went to Abilene for Sing Song.

Today, our Sojourn Group will prepare another one of their Fundraiser Meals for us to enjoy. Let’s all meet in the Fellowship Room after the morning worship service to enjoy a great meal and good fellowship while we help the youth group raise money for their Sabbath Camp this summer! The cost is $5 per plate.

Tonight, Old Testament Challenge will not meet since our leader, Terry Rascoe, was in a skiing accident in Colorado on Thursday. He and Zoe should be back today. Let’s keep him in our prayers!

Next Thursday, the Ladies’ Bible Class that usually meets at 9:30 am will not meet. Dorris and Michael are taking a couple of days off and then will be in Fort Worth to meet with a couple whose wedding Michael will be presiding over this summer.

Next up: Next Saturday will be Guys’ Night Out. Meet at the building at 1 pm.

Jonathan will give you more details.

Those of you going on the ski trip: your third deposit of $100 is due now. The balance will be due before you leave on the 16th of March.

The new Sojourn t-shirts are available at a cost of $10 for any adult who wants one and $7.50 for any of our youth. See Jonathan or Jennifer to get yours.

A LOOK AHEAD:

A Men’s Retreat is being planned for Friday evening, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. It will begin about 5:30 or 6:00 pm at Colorado Bend State Park. There will be a campfire devotional Friday evening and then a lunch devotional on Saturday with lots of visiting and relaxing in between! The cost is $3 per person to get into the campground. There will probably be an additional cost for food, but that amount hasn’t been determined yet.  All men (and sons), be sure to make plans to come. See Chris Payne for more information.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Please keep Connie Hicks’ mother in your prayers. She has been diagnosed with cancer in her lung, back, and liver, and she has a tumor in her heart. We need to pray also for David and Connie as they go through this trying time.

We also need to remember Terry Rascoe as he returns from his ski trip (today). He had an accident on the slopes on Thursday afternoon and broke four of his ribs. His oxygen level on Friday was the same as Zoe’s, so he probably didn’t puncture his lung as they first thought. He, of course, is in quite a bit of pain but is doing fine.

Cathy has the new Nursery Attendant, Children’s Church and Communion Preparation Schedules available on the back table. If you have indicated you would help in these ministries, please pick yours up; they are labeled with your name. Thanks so much for your help.

Our hint this week for ways we can live for Jesus in 2009 is:

WHEN SOMEONE NEEDS CORRECTION, WE CORRECT HIM IN LOVE.

This applies to all of us in all areas where we live, work and worship.

Encourage One Another in Love

Note cards are available on the buffet in the foyer for anyone wanting to send a word of encouragement. You may mail them yourself or place them in the box provided, and the church will address and mail them.
