Welcome to Our Guests

We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.

For our Visitors:  We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies up to 2½ years old, and, if you’d like to stay with your child, an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer

We have Children’s Church for children 2½ through 5 years in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building.  Before the scripture reading, your children will be dismissed for that program and then brought back over after the message so they can participate in the closing songs.

We are so pleased to announce the baptism of Penny Vance last Wednesday night after our Fellowship Meal! Penny has been visiting with us for a short time and studying with Dorris Fortson…and decided she needed to make some changes in her life. We praise God for her decision to put Christ on in baptism. It was such a joyful time Wednesday night! Be sure to greet her and welcome her into God’s kingdom. She is living with Earl and Jeffrey Young right now, and we will have her page for your directory soon!

Since we now need to add Penny Vance to our picture-taking schedule, we will have all the new-member pages ready by next week!

A big thanks goes to our Sojourn Group for the delicious Fundraiser Meal they served last Sunday for us to enjoy. Their net income toward the Sabbath Camp this summer from this fundraiser was $124.90. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the lunch, had fellowship and helped our youth group with this project!

Congratulations to Zoe Rascoe! She has received the 2009 Individual Citation Award from the Southwest Region of the National Recreation & Parks Association! This honor has never before been given to a Temple resident. There was a nice write-up in the paper about it, and it is now posted on the bulletin board in the foyer. She and Terry were in Austin last Wednesday night for the presentation of the award.

Tonight, Old Testament Challenge will meet since our leader, Terry Rascoe, is now back and healing from his skiing accident.  Childcare will be provided, but please remember to bring sack suppers for your children.

A LOOK AHEAD:

A Men’s Retreat is being planned for NEXT Friday evening, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. It will begin about 5:30 or 6:00 pm at Colorado Bend State Park. There will be a campfire devotional Friday evening and then a lunch devotional on Saturday with lots of visiting and relaxing in between! The cost is $3 per person to get into the campground. There will probably be an additional cost for food, but that amount hasn’t been determined yet.  All men (and sons), be sure to make plans to come. See Chris Payne for more information.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Please keep Connie Hicks’ mother in your prayers. She has been diagnosed with cancer in her lung, back, and liver, and she has a tumor in her heart. We need to pray also for David and Connie as they go through this tough time.

NOTE:  Keller and Connie Matthews have some Ash firewood available for anyone who would like to have it. It is piled in their driveway, and you are free to go by and get however much you’d like. They live at 3005 Stratford Drive in Temple.

The cell phone number given for Jeffrey Young in your directory is currently not a working number.

Brian Ward is now going to Western Hills Church of Christ.

Our hint this week for ways we can live for Jesus in 2009 is:

WHEN SOMEONE IS SORRY, WE FORGIVE HIM.

This applies to all of us in all areas where we live, work and worship
