Welcome to Our Guests
We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.
For our Visitors: We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies up to 2½ years old, and, if you’d like to stay with your child, an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer
Before the sermon today, children 2½ through 5 years will be dismissed for Children’s Church which is held in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building. You may pick up your child/children from there after the worship service is over.
Today, right after our morning worship, Sojourn will host another one of its Fundraiser lunches. The meal is spaghetti, and costs $5 per person. Make plans to stay and visit after church while enjoying a great meal together and helping our youth raise funds for their Sabbath camp this summer.
Tonight, we will resume our Old Testament Challenge study which meets on Sunday nights from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. The first lesson will be looking at the life of Elijah; the text is 1 Kings 15-19. Childcare will be provided, but please bring a sack supper for your kids.
Next Sunday is our third annual Super Sunday! Be thinking about who you want to invite as your guests that day. We will have a special service and a Pot-luck Fellowship Meal afterward. We want it to be a good get-acquainted time for those we bring as our guests, so pray for God’s blessings on this effort. For the Pot-luck Dinner, please bring two dishes, choosing from the following: salad, dessert, main dish or vegetable. If you have questions about the dinner, see Zoe Rascoe.
If you would be willing to bake the bread or prepare the trays for our Sunday morning Communion service, please let Cathy know. We have several “gaps” in our calendar this year!
Our hint this week for ways we can live for Jesus in 2009 is:
WE TELL THE TRUTH.
Let’s concentrate especially on this one this week!
These are taken from the children’s book, The Original 21 Rules of this House,
and apply to all of us in all areas where we live, work and worship.

DRIVER NEEDED! Brian Ward is needing a ride to church and is willing to compensate you for your gas cost if necessary. He lives on North 2nd Street behind the Social Security office building. If you would be willing to do this as a service to one of our members, please let Cathy or Michael know and/or get in touch with Brian. He would like to come to class as well, but if that’s not possible, church would be fine!

Sojourn Activities: Sojourn is planning a trip to Denver for a “service” camp this summer, July 26-August 1, called Sabbath. The deposit that the kids are required to pay if they want to go is $50 and will be due to us by February 15. The rest of the cost will be covered hopefully by fundraisers, but by paying the $50 deposit, the kids are committing to going with the group and reserving this date on their calendars!
The new Sojourn t-shirts are available at a cost of $10 for any adult who wants one and $7.50 for any of our youth. See Jonathan or Jennifer to get yours.
Our youth have begun a new study on Sunday evenings called “Falling in Love with Jesus.” They meet every Sunday evening from 5 - 7 pm here at the building.

Myrna Ortiz is the woman who is helping Sibyl Gersbach every morning around her house. However, she still needs work in the afternoons, so if anyone needs a good “house cleaner,” get in touch with Mark Hicks at 778-6254 or Patty Hicks at 295-7835.
Also, Diane Gunn has informed us that she would be interested in house-sitting, pet-sitting or baby sitting (if you’d like to go away for a few days, etc.) She just needs something to supplement her income. She goes to the Belton Church of Christ and is the widow of Rob Gunn, Cathy Kneip’s cousin. See Cathy for more info.
Kevin Huddleston is our elder chairman for the month of January. If you have any questions are need to meet with the elders, please talk with Kevin. His e-mail address is kphuddleston@swmail.sw.org, and his home phone number is 939-7002.
FYI: Cathy will be leaving early Thursday morning (January 29) to go to Baltimore to help Calissa with the last of her move to North Carolina. If you have any announcements or information she would need for the bulletin for February 1, please get that to her by Wednesday, January 28; she will be preparing the bulletin for February 1 on that Wednesday evening.
