Welcome to Our Guests
We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.
For our Visitors: We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies up to 2½ years old, and an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer if you’d like to stay with your child.
Before Communion, children 2½ through 5 years will be dismissed for Children’s Church which is held in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building. You may pick up your child/children from there after the worship service is over.
Today, we will continue with our Advent readings. We will have a video to begin the meditation, and then some of the Youth Group will share a scripture and thought as we remember the birth of Jesus.
Tonight, we will have our Church-wide Christmas Dinner at 5 pm. This dinner will be an “all-church covered-dish dinner,” so bring two of your favorite dishes, choosing from vegetable, salad, and dessert. The meat will be provided. Please feel free to invite your neighbors and friends to enjoy this evening with us.
Following our dinner, we will have our Talent/Variety Show! Hopefully, those of you who are planning to “perform” have been practicing and will be ready to be on stage tonight! Please talk to Zoe if you have any questions.
Tomorrow will be “Love of Christ Day” at Chick-Fil-A! Pick up one of the coupons on the back table, and at any time during the day, visit either one of the “drive-in” locations of Chick-Fil-A in Temple with the coupon and a canned good, and Chick-Fil-A will give a percentage of your purchase to Love of Christ! Remember, the restaurant in the mall is NOT participating. This is a really easy and delicious way to benefit the Love of Christ Center!
This coming Wednesday night during our devotional time, we will be wrapping the gifts for our Christmas Families. BUT, it is not too late to contribute a few dollars toward the cost of those gifts since not all of them have been bought yet! Please give your cash or a check made out to the church to Cathy, Michael, or one of the elders. Thanks so much for all your help!
This coming Wednesday will be your last chance to bring your food for the families we help at Christmas and Medina Children’s Home. We will be sorting the food during our devotional time so that it will be ready to distribute to the families! There is a list of suggested items on the back table.
Next Friday, December 19, from 2-10 pm, the Youth Group will have a “Mini-Retreat” here at the building. The cost is $15, so please give your money to Jennifer and plan to come.
Next Sunday, December 21, don’t forget the all-church Christmas Brunch at the Fortson’s Home immediately after our morning worship. Their address is 3601 Las Cienega in Temple. There will be maps on the back table for you to use if necessary. DON’T EAT BEFORE YOU COME!!
On Wednesday, December 24, we will have our Christmas Eve Service at 5 pm. Please come as we conclude our Advent readings and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
Update on Youth Activities: For those of you who don’t have kids in the Youth Group, you may not be aware that because our kids are so involved in school activities, Jonathan and Jennifer haven’t been able to plan many “organized” activities outside of Sunday night and Wednesday night (though not for lack of trying!), but they have been very involved in supporting our kids in and attending their sporting events, plays, concerts, etc. and usually transporting several of the youth group kids with them. Thank you, Jonathan and Jennifer, for your concern for and support of our kids.
