Welcome to Our Guests
We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. We ask that you fill out a visitor’s card located in the card holders on the backs of the pews and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.
Information for our Visitors: We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies through 2½ years. We also have an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer if you’d like to stay with your child.
Just before Communion, children 2½ through 5 years will be dismissed for Children’s Church which is held in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building. You may pick up your child/children from there after the worship service is over.

If you would be willing to be on a rotation to take communion to our shut-ins, please see Joyce or Bill Roberts.
Please remember to bring your food for the families we help at Christmas and Medina Children’s Home to the front of the auditorium. When you’re shopping, just pick up a few extra non-perishable things with which we can bless someone this Christmas. There is a list of suggested items on the back table.
Today, we begin our Advent devotionals. We will have a video to begin the meditation, and then the Matthews family will share a scripture and thought as we remember the birth of Jesus and focus on that part of our Christmas celebration – the most important part of our celebrations!
Please be thinking about how you can assist us with our outreach to the families we try to help at Christmas. You may contribute to the cost of the gifts by giving cash or a check made out to the church to Cathy, Michael, or one of the elders (remember to mark it for Christmas Families!), or you might want to help us shop for those families. Please let us know how you would like to help with this benevolence effort.
Deposit due TOMORROW, December 1!! On the back table are handouts for the ski trip scheduled for Spring Break, March 16-20, 2009 at Ski Durango in Colorado. The first deposit of $100 is due December 1 to reserve your spot. If you don’t want to ski, you can still go and just hang out with Jennifer and the kids, play in the snow, etc. However, you would still owe the lodging/food/gas charges and still need to pay the deposit by December 1. See Jennifer or Jonathan for details.
Next Wednesday, December 3, we will have “Soup Night.” Please bring a pot of your favorite soup to share. We will have crackers, drinks, etc. to go with the soup. If you have any questions call Zoe or Cathy.
On Wednesday, December 10, Dorris is planning a “Dinner Theatre” during our Fellowship meal. We will have Lasagna, salad and breadsticks and enjoy the movie “Flywheel,” which was the first movie made by the group that produced “Facing the Giants.” Please come and enjoy this special dinner and time together. Be on time because the movie will begin at 6:00 pm sharp!
On Thursday, December 11, the Thursday morning Ladies’ Bible Class will meet at the Fortson’s home at 11 am and then host a luncheon for the working ladies of the congregation at 12 noon. If you can come to class, please bring a Christmas story, poem or Christmas memory from the past
On Sunday, December 14, we will have our Church-wide Christmas Dinner at 5 pm, and then, as we have done the past two years, we will have a Talent/Variety Show! Please be thinking about your talents and which of them you want to share!! Zoe Rascoe is our contact person for the variety show, and she has cards on the back table for you to fill out if you want to participate. Please pick one up!
On Wednesday, December 24, we will have a Christmas Eve Service at 5 pm. Please come as we conclude our Advent readings and celebrate Christ’s birth. The service will not be long because we know many of us have family gatherings to attend as well, but it’s good to focus on the true meaning of Christmas as we enjoy those celebrations with family and friends.
A Look Ahead: In January, we are planning to resume our Old Testament Challenge study group on Sunday evenings. A definite date has not been decided, but if you are interested in that study, keep it in mind!
FOUND: A very nice Ryrie Study Bible in a black canvas cover; it’s on the back table.
