Welcome to Our Guests

We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. At the beginning of the service, visitor cards will be distributed by our children. We ask that you fill out the card and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.

Information for our Visitors:  We have an Attended Nursery located in the Education Building (across the breezeway) for babies through 2½ years. We also have an unattended Nursery at the back of the auditorium off the Foyer if you’d like to stay with your child.

Just before our Communion service, children 2½ through 5 years will be dismissed for Children’s Church which is held in the Children’s Church Room in the Education Building.  You may pick up your child/children from there after the worship service is over.

If you have not picked up your Member Picture Directory yet, see Cathy; she has yours for you. If you would like an additional one at a cost of $5, please sign the sheet on the back table. Also available are updated “paper directories” like we’ve had for years (at no cost) – just sign in that column on the sheet if you’d like one of those.

Our Elder Chairman for the month of November is Bill Kneip. If you have any questions or need to meet with the elders, please talk with Bill. His e-mail address is wkneip@hot.rr.com, and his home phone number is 778-0274.

Jessica Alvarado and Joyce Roberts have both asked for some help with the ministries they are working with – Communion leading and Communion to the Shut-ins.

If you are willing to lead the communion service on Sunday mornings (you don’t necessarily have to prepare a “devotional talk”), OR, if anyone would be willing to commit to leading the communion service on a particular Sunday of each month, please let Jessica Alvarado know.

Several of our people who take communion to our shut-ins are no longer doing it, so if you would be willing to be on a rotation in that ministry, please see Joyce or Bill Roberts.

Great news! Sherrie Harper saw her oncologist on Thursday, and he had good news: she is now transitioning from “cancer patient” to “cancer survivor”!! She will still need to have her chemo and bone- and heart-strengthening treatments, but what wonderful news! Praise God!

We rejoice that Ron Huddleston is now home!

Sibyl Gersbach is home, but we need to continue to pray for her, especially in regard to her breathing problems.

Today, we began our collection of food for the families we help at Christmas and Medina Children’s Home. When you’re shopping, just pick up a few extra non-perishable things with which we can bless someone this Christmas. There is a list of suggested items on the back table.

We are looking for one more family or group who would like to participate in our Advent Services this year. If you and your family (or friends) would like to do one of the readings, please let Cathy know as soon as possible.

On Sunday, December 14, we will have our Church-wide Christmas Dinner at 5 pm, and then, as we have done the past two years, we will have a Talent/Variety Show! Please be thinking about your talents and which of them you want to share!! We will have a sign-up sheet soon.

A Look Ahead: In January, we are planning to resume our Old Testament Challenge study group on Sunday evenings. A definite date has not been decided, but if you are interested in that study, keep it in mind!

On the back table are handouts for the ski trip scheduled for Spring Break, March 16-20, 2009 at Ski Durango in Colorado. The first deposit of $100 is due December 1 to reserve your spot. If you don’t want to ski, you can still go and just hang out with Jennifer and the kids, play in the snow, etc.  However, you would still owe the lodging/food/gas charges and still need to pay the deposit by December 1. See Jennifer or Jonathan for details.
