Welcome to Our Guests
We extend a warm welcome to our guests today at Canyon Creek. We are honored by your presence, and it is our hope that you will be blessed this morning. At the beginning of the service, visitor cards will be distributed by our children. We ask that you fill out the card and place it in the collection plate. Again, we thank you for worshipping with us today.
This coming Wednesday our Wonderful Wednesday class will split back into two classes, one for preschoolers and one for the Kindergartners through 5th graders. Sarah Herriott is back after being gone for the summer and will be here to take care of the preschool class, and Cathy and Debra will be teaching the K-5th grade class in their regular classroom.
Youth Fundraiser Lunch: Our youth group will be preparing anotherFundraiser Lunch next Sunday, September 7. It will be baked potatoes, so make plans to stay, eat and help with the youth fund. Remember, September 7 right after morning worship.
A LOOK AHEAD: On September 20 and 21, we are scheduled to have a group from Abilene Christian University called “Seekers of the Word” come to visit us here at Canyon Creek. They will arrive on Saturday afternoon or early evening (time to be announced later). We will host the members of the group in our homes, and then they will be in charge of the worship service Sunday morning. After the Sunday morning worship service, they will meet and have lunch here at the building with all who are or would be interested in a drama group forming here at church.

Our Elder Chairman for the month of September is Kevin Huddleston. If you have any questions or need to meet with the elders, please talk with Kevin. His e-mail address is kphuddleston@swmail.sw.org.
Please remember to keep in constant prayer for Dorothy Whitson, Sherrie Harper, Waneta Dillingham, and Ron Huddleston.
Dorothy Whitson, mother of Ronnie Pyburn and a resident of Temple Living Center West, has been diagnosed with kidney cancer. Those who take communion to our shut-ins have gotten to know her through this ministry. She doesn’t want to go through dialysis, so there is no surgery currently planned.
Sherrie had her sixth chemotherapy treatment last Friday, and the new plan is to have her last smaller treatment next Friday and then have her tests run.
Waneta is recovering from surgery and is now at home.
Ron Huddleston is now at Weston Inn, Room 306, recovering from his hip surgery and doing rehab.
We have mentioned several times David Saverse, the young man who was injured by a tree limb falling on him while he, his wife Nicole and two children, Tristan and Corbin, were in Austin having a day of family fun at an outdoor performance at Zilker Park. They are a young couple who visited us the Sunday we had our “Joy of the Lord” service in July.
He is recovering and has now finally been transferred to Scott and White. His road to recovery, however, is very long and painful. He has had surgeries on his back, broken foot, and ribs, and is also suffering from brain trauma.
He would welcome cards from any of us, but if you would wish to help in a more concrete way, a benefit fund has been set up for the family at First State Bank Central Texas to help with their many expenses.
We are now looking for one babysitter for the Ladies’ Bible Class in the fall; we have found one but still need one more! If you know of anyone who would like this job to make some extra money, please let Cathy Kneip know. Thanks for any help you can give us!
If you are the parent of a college student, please give his/her address and e-mail address to Cathy. She will print out a “College Student Directory” so we can send them notes of encouragement from time to time.
